Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s still only January. I feel like we’ve had such a full start to the year already. I’ve just returned from my first floral event of the year, and we have the schedule for IFPA floral events locked in and ready to share.
Last time we checked in we were talking about the deceleration of growth, and it has certainly arrived. Despite the great work on behalf of the industry to take hold of the growth and increased consumer engagement over the past few years, inflation and other widespread economic conditions have caught up to us and we’re seeing the slowdown we predicted.
However, based on my interactions with members at the Tropical Plant International Expo last week, I’m glad to hear that for the most part, people are feeling cautiously optimistic. What I’ve heard is that people are trying to continue to keep their orders on par and if they have cut back, they’re now calling to see if there’s additional production they can get their hands on. Everyone is preparing for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday and right now, we can all – cautiously – hope to see a successful holiday.
In addition to looking forward to Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day on the horizon, there are a number of IFPA dates to put on your calendars as well.
March 7: Floral Conference Anaheim: We’ll be getting together in Anaheim, CA for the IFPA Floral Conference. We’ll be releasing the first wave of results from our Kantar research project that will do one of the industry’s biggest deep dive into consumer perspectives and behaviors.
March 22: Pantone Webinar: Join us for the annual webinar to hear about the latest in design trends that can influence and impact floral in the coming year.
May 23: Floral Conference Miami: We’ll be getting together in Miami to dive into supply chain challenges and opportunities.
Check out IFPA's other events coming up including leadership and personal development opportunities.
