The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) issued the following statement after U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the appointment of Erin Morris as the next administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). Morris will succeed Bruce Summers, who is retiring at the end of May following a 40-year career at USDA.
“IFPA congratulates Erin Morris on her appointment as administrator of the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). Erin’s extensive experience and steadfast commitment to serving America’s agricultural community make her exceptionally well-suited for this important leadership role. We look forward to working with her to continue advancing fair, transparent, and efficient markets for U.S. agricultural products.
“We would also like to express our deep appreciation to Bruce Summers for his remarkable four decades of service to American agriculture. Throughout his tenure, Bruce has been an influential and trusted partner to the fresh produce industry. His leadership at AMS strengthened vital programs that promote market transparency, ensure product integrity, and support fair trade practices across the fresh produce supply chain. His leadership has left a lasting, positive impact, and we thank him for his dedication and lasting contributions.
“We wish Bruce the very best in his well-earned retirement and look forward to continued collaboration with Administrator Morris and the AMS team in the years ahead.”
