We’re just weeks away from gathering in Orlando for The Global Produce & Floral Show, and I’m excited about what this year’s event offers our floral community.
Floral businesses are navigating many of the same forces reshaping the broader fresh supply chain—from changing global trade conditions and economic pressures to sustainability expectations, emerging technology, evolving consumer behavior and new approaches to sourcing and logistics. At the Global Show, our floral community has an opportunity to explore those issues and connect them back to the realities of doing business in floral.
That is one of the things that makes our community within IFPA so valuable. Floral is part of a much larger global marketplace, and bringing produce and floral together creates opportunities to learn from one another, discover solutions, build relationships and gain perspectives that might not otherwise cross our paths.
You’ll see that reflected throughout this year’s Global Show. Conversations around global trade and business conditions, pricing and sourcing, consumer purchasing, packaging, artificial intelligence, sustainability, automation and the future of the supply chain all have implications for floral. I encourage you to approach Orlando thinking about the sessions you want to attend, the questions you want answered, the people you want to meet, and the challenges you want help solving.
And we want to hear those questions and challenges directly. As a reminder, our Floral Community Meeting on Tuesday, October 13, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. will give us an important opportunity to come together before the Global Show begins. We want this time to be about more than providing updates. We want to listen.
What is happening in your business or region that deserves greater attention? What issues should IFPA be helping the floral industry understand and navigate? What resources, insights or connections would provide greater value to you? And what can we learn from one another across regions and across the floral supply chain?
Those conversations will help us better understand where our members need us most and how we can continue strengthening the value IFPA provides to the global floral community.
And, of course, there will be plenty of opportunities simply to reconnect. On Thursday evening, we’ll gather for the Floral Community Reception, where we’ll celebrate our industry, spend time together and recognize this year’s Floral Marketer of the Year.
As you make your plans for Orlando, I encourage you to make time for both: take advantage of the broader insights, solutions and relationships available throughout the Global Show, and make time to connect with your floral community.
Bring your questions, your ideas, and the challenges you think our industry needs to tackle next.
We’ll see you in Orlando.
