It feels wonderful to be back! After some time away, I am excited to return to IFPA and reconnect with the incredible people who make our floral community so special. I've missed the conversations, collaboration and energy that come from working alongside all of you. I'm returning refreshed, energized and ready to continue building on the important work we're doing together.
And what better way to celebrate that momentum than by reflecting on another successful Global Produce & Floral Show!
This year's show was a powerful reminder of the strength, reach and opportunity within our global fresh produce and floral community. With more than 1,000 exhibitors, nearly 70 countries represented and more than 400 retail and wholesale banners in attendance, the show floor was filled with opportunities to connect, discover new products and move business forward.
We also saw a 10% increase in international buyers, bringing more retailers from outside the United States to the show than ever before. With a buyer-to-attendee ratio of 1:9, the Global Show continues to deliver what matters most: meaningful business conversations, valuable connections and opportunities to turn ideas into action.
For floral specifically, there was even more to celebrate. We welcomed an increase in first-time floral exhibitors, who represented a larger share of the show floor than last year. In fact, the square footage occupied by first-time floral exhibitors doubled compared to 2025. This growth reflects the continued enthusiasm for our industry and the value companies see in participating in the Global Show. It's exciting to see new businesses joining longtime exhibitors to showcase their products, introduce innovations and strengthen their connections across the floral supply chain.
But the impact of the Global Show extended well beyond the convention center. Following the event, approximately 180 pallets of floral and plant products, totaling an estimated 42,000 pounds, were donated to local retirement homes, hospitals and other community organizations. What an incredible example of the generosity of our industry and the joy that flowers and plants can bring to people's lives! These donations are a meaningful reminder that the work we do isn't just about business. It's also about the connections we create and the positive impact our products have on people and communities.
I also want to extend another heartfelt congratulations to our 2026 Floral Marketer of the Year, Laura Perkins, Vice President of Floral Merchandising at Albertsons Companies! Laura's leadership and contributions to the floral industry are deserving of this recognition, and we are proud to celebrate her accomplishments alongside our floral community.
Finally, a sincere thank you to our outstanding Floral Annual Partners: Colour Republic, Galleria Farms, Gems, Passion Growers, Sunshine Bouquet Company, The Elite Flower and The Queen's Bouquet Network. Your continued investment and support help IFPA bring our floral community together, advance industry priorities and create opportunities for growth and collaboration throughout the year.
As I settle back in, I'm especially looking forward to hearing from you. I want to know what's happening in your businesses, what challenges you're navigating and where you see the greatest opportunities ahead. Your perspectives help shape our work and ensure that IFPA continues to be a valuable resource and advocate for this industry.
Thank you for the warm welcome back, for your continued engagement and for everything you do to make this community thrive. I'm excited for what's ahead and look forward to reconnecting with many of you soon!
