About This Forum

The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) has been at the forefront of shaping practical, workable traceability implementation for the fresh produce and floral supply chain.

IFPA supports the food safety objectives of the FDA's Food Traceability Rule (FSMA 204) — including faster, more accurate traceback and more targeted recalls — while advocating for compliance pathways that reflect how produce actually moves through high-velocity, perishable supply chains.

Traceability is receiving increased industry attention due to recent food safety outbreaks and challenges with source identification.

Robust traceability lets recalls be executed in hours, not days — and narrows their scope.
