Washington, DC – The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) is proud to celebrate the season of fall flavors and festive traditions by participating in Halloween at the White House. Hosted by President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, this annual tradition welcomes thousands of children and families to trick-or-treat on the South Lawn.
As part of the festivities, IFPA is providing 7,500 apples from Washington and New York states to participants, along with thousands of colorful mums and pumpkins that capture the spirit of the harvest season. These fresh offerings highlight IFPA’s belief that produce and florals belong at the center of every occasion, bringing joy, nourishment, and beauty to celebrations large and small.
“Halloween at the White House is a wonderful opportunity to share the magic of fresh, nutritious produce and florals with families from across the nation,” said IFPA CEO Cathy Burns. “Whether it’s a crunchy apple, festive pumpkins or bright florals in seasonal colors, fresh products have a special way of connecting people to the moment and to one another.”
IFPA recognizes the following member companies for their generous contributions to make this celebration possible:
- Sarah’s Homegrown® Heirloom, Jack O’Lantern and mini pumpkins from Frey Farms with farms throughout the Midwest and Southeast
- Mums were provided by Metrolina Greenhouses in Huntersville, N.C.
- Washington state, miniature Rockit apples were donated by Chelan Fresh, Chelan, Wash.
- New York state apples were donated by Yes! Apples in Glenmont, N.Y., and Crunch Time Apple Growers in Lockport, N.Y.
- Providing supply chain and logistics support were Keany Produce & Gourmet in Landover, Md.
After today’s event, IFPA will donate Frey Farms pumpkins to DC Central Kitchen, a renowned nonprofit and social enterprise dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty through job training and providing nutritious food where it is needed most. These pumpkins will be used in meals distributed to the local community.
IFPA’s involvement reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting healthy eating, celebrating American-grown produce, and connecting families to the benefits of fresh fruits, vegetables, and florals.
