I hope by now everyone has had a chance to rest and recover from the Mother’s Day rush! While official data is still on the way, early feedback from our retail members is promising: 54% said sales exceeded expectations, and 77% reported increased traffic in their floral departments. Bouquets and roses held strong as top performers again this year. We look forward to sharing the full Circana report with you in the coming weeks.
Many of you have expressed concerns about the current geo-political climate and the challenges posed by shifting tariff policies. IFPA continues to advocate for the floral industry in Washington, D.C., but your stories are powerful tools for change. I encourage you to join us at The Washington Conference in just a few weeks. Your voice matters on Capitol Hill!
As we ease into the summer season here in the U.S., flowers continue to shine as a thoughtful gift for so many occasions. They’re perfect as a hostess gift for BBQs and backyard picnics, a heartfelt gesture for end-of-year teacher appreciation, and a bright send-off for graduates. Don’t forget Father’s Day, bridal showers, and even summer birthdays - all great opportunities to inspire floral purchases. Even with economic headwinds, flowers remain an accessible luxury that consumers continue to choose to celebrate life’s everyday and milestone moments.
And don’t forget to check out our 2024 IFPA Impact Report to see the many ways your association is working to support and grow the floral industry.
